This brings up a very interesting comparison. Even if you love this individual vs. Infatuation is it more understandable when they respond differently during alcohol intake? Ive been on the other side of this and im certain my partner was in love and not infatuated..and had to out his foot down.. i think irregardless to emotional investment alcohol and drugs should never determine respect towards your partner never.
Drugs and alcohol distort the mind and some may tell the truth when under the influence and others may not. If the person only behaves differently while intoxicated and it is happening too often then they are burying their true feelings but if its only a sporatic occurance, and they piss u off when they get drunk....well damn who doesnt get annoying when they have had one too many....

I guess you have to ask yourself do you actually love this person or are you infatuated??? Some times it can be a thin line if you are really confused
